Cleansing Enzymes
Our most amazing product - it combines 17 enzymes, digestion enhancing botanicals, liver boosting, powerful probiotics and internal cleansing action - all in one product
Allowing the body’s lifeline of health — our gastrointestinal system to become and remain less efficient — this is what starts the process of disease.
Henry David Thoreau once said for “every thousand hacking at the leaves of a problem there is one getting at the roots.” Cleansing Enzymes is a product that gets at the roots of preventing poor health.
Our body doesn’t become toxic overnight - it takes time. But, with the daily habit of taking Cleansing Enzymes you can help keep your body from ever becoming very toxic — with the assistance of Cleansing Enzymes six-faceted cleansing actions.
Cleansing Enzymes took years to develop. It is one of the greatest achievements represented in our product line. When one understands its importance, it becomes one of those products that we choose to use daily. It promotes internal cleanliness in the following six ways.
- Cleansing Enzymes contains 17 enzymes (including serratia peptidase from silkworms that helps remove cholesterol from arterial walls). You can see a listing of these enzymes to the right. Enzymes initiate the formation and/or breakage of chemical bonds and are vital to our body in numerous ways, just one of which is transforming our food into cellular building blocks. Like chemical lasers, the enzymes in Cleansing Enzymes cut up our foods and stored proteins into tiny molecules that the body can use. Cleansing Enzymes is balanced for use in all pH environments (acidic and alkaline), so no matter what the current status of our digestive organs, it will work.
- Cleansing Enzymes contains special liver strengthening foods (see Liver Boost) that boost the liver’s performance in producing the approximate 5,000 enzymes and catalysts that our body uses to change food into nutrient molecules and to detoxify the blood of impurities.
- Cleansing Enzymes contains a digestive bitter that stimulates stomach acid production. Stomach acid is essential for breaking down foods so that they can be digested.
- Cleansing Enzymes contains an herb that stimulates bile production. Bile helps extract nutrients from partially digested food (chyme) as it passes through the small intestines.
- Cleansing Enzymes contains botanicals that prevent fungal and heliobacter bacteria activity in our digestive systems during food transit. This reduces the creation of toxins and helps prevent ulcers.
- Cleansing Enzymes contains a species of protective bacteria (lactobacillus sporagenes) that survives stomach acids/bile and reaches our small and large intestines safely where the protective bacteria will populate our colon and help prevent pathogenic bacteria from gaining a stronghold.
Cleansing Enzymes is comprehensive in its ability to keep our digestive and circulatory systems clean and to increase our capacity to extract nourishment from our food.
It is suggested that everyone over the age of 30 take one or two capsules of Cleansing Enzymes with each meal since, for most people, we begin losing digestive efficiency at about 30 years of age.
Additionally, instead of being taken with food, Cleansing Enzymes can be taken away from food. When taken away from food, Cleansing Enzymes will act, not on the food in our gut, but instead on whatever toxins may be building up in our circulatory and eliminatory systems to disrupt their storage sites, break them up and send them on their way out of the body. This is the reason why Cleansing Enzymes is the foundation of the Eight Day Cleanse.

How to Take Cleansing Enzymes
There are two protocols for taking the Cleansing Enzymes.
The first protocol is for ensuring clean digestion of the foods we eat each day. For this protocol, an adult takes from two to three capsules of enzymes with a meal, depending primarily on the amount of cooked and processed food in the meal. (Can be just one capsule with a mostly raw food meal or up to six capsules with a Holiday feast of meats and pastries, etc.)
With the second protocol one takes from one to four capsules at a time away from food. Away means at least one hour after the last food was eaten and one hour before food will be eaten again. Taking the Cleansing Enzymes away from food allows the enzymes to home in, like a guided torpedo, on toxic storage centers in the gut and in the circulatory system, to break them apart and thus help destroy the toxins, plaque and complement that are burdening the body.
With today’s dietary predominance of cooked and processed foods, which take a huge toll on a person’s enzyme capacities, by the time most people reach their late twenties, they are in enzyme trouble!
Creating enzymes takes a large toll on the body’s capacity for chemical chemical production. Since cooked and processed foods don’t provide any needed digestive enzymes within the foods themselves, as raw foods do, most people, by the time they have reached their late twenties, are in enzyme trouble as the body drastically slows the release of its protein-cutting enzymes (the most important ones), and begins to dole them out in eyedropper amounts instead of tablespoon amounts as it did in earlier years when there was no lessened capacity or perceived shortage of enzymes. With fewer enzymes to process the food we eat the more our food remains partially digested and therefore either unusable or TOXIC.
In addition to food digestion, however, the shortage of enzymes impact the hundreds of other actions that our enzymes do. These include:
- Defense against inflammation. When you were a kid, you shrugged off injuries that later in life can lay you up for a week.
- Enzymes control the rate and accuracy of healing. Again, think of your speed healing when you were a kid. Think of the wounds that healed when you were a kid, with their thin, strong pliable, almost invisible scars. Now, think of your thick, knotty, scar tissue from wounds of later years.
- Protein cutting enzymes eat away at fibroids helping to prevent or dramatically lessen such things as Fibrocystic Breast Disease, uterine fibroids and endometriosis.
- Enzymes clean away the protein coating that otherwise builds on protein tissue under the skin (polymerization). This is what prevents wrinkles. So, how do you know if you have too few enzymes? Why you’ll have wrinkles!
- Enzymes regulate immune function — preventing it from other under-acting or overacting. If the system is run-down, enzymes will increase the cleaning/killing action of the white blood cells on bugs and increase the production of Natural Killer cells. If the immune system is running too high and creating auto immune conditions such as MS, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, etc., then the enzymes will downshift the immune system, control inflammation and eat the antibodies that the immune system is creating to attack its own tissue!
- Protein-cutting enzymes clean the blood of all the debris the liver can’t manage to clear out of the blood on the “first pass”.
- Enzymes strengthen blood vessel walls and open micro circulation passages clogged with fibrin, improving circulation overall.

Cleansing Enzymes furnishes a five-pronged approach to keeping the internal body clean.
First, it contains enzymes, seventeen to be exact. These enzymes include:
- Protease - three types that work in varying stomach acid conditions to break down protein.
- Papain - breaks down protein
- Bromelain - breaks down protein
- Amylase - breaks down carbohydrates, starches and sugars.
- Glucoamylase - breaks down starch "-1,4 and –1,6 glucan bonds" (goes one step beyond Amylase).
- Lipase - breaks down fats (triglycerides and other lipids) and oils. Useful in aiding in weight control, maintaining and enhancing cardiovascular health, and helping maintain proper gall bladder function.
- Lactase - aids in the digestion of lactose. Lactase breaks down lactose that is found in milk sugars. Useful for individuals suffering from lactose intolerance.
- Cellulase - increases the availability of anthocyanidins, powerful antioxidants from grapes and other berries. Cellulase breaks down fiber, helping to solubilize nutrients from fruits and vegetables. (the body does not make cellulase, cellulase is very important because of all the processed foods we eat)
- Hemicellulase - is a group of enzymes that hydrolyzes the complex polysaccharides known as hemicellulose. Hemicellulose is highly viscous (sticky) compounds that bind digestive enzymes and decrease the rate of nutrient assimilation. Hemicellulase increases protein absorption from various grains.
- Malt Diatase - breaks down malt and grain sugars. Breaks down complex and simple sugars.
- Invertase - breaks down simple sugars
- Alpha Galactosidase - breaks down of raffinose, stachyose and melibiose. Helps to prevent gas, bloating and pressure caused by many healthful foods (broccoli, cabbage, carrots, onions, peppers, corn, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, beans, peas and more).
- Phytase: Breaks down phosphate and digests phytate. Phytate is a mineral-binding agent that reduces the bioavailability of certain minerals such as zinc, iron, and calcium. When cooked grains are eaten, almost none of the phytate is degraded. Results from research by Ann-Sofie Sandberg of Goteborg University in Sweden, indicate that dietary phytase is a grand key to human digestion of phytate, so we get more nutrition from the food we eat.
- Beta-gluconase: promotes the breakdown of vegetable gum, coating of seeds and increases amino acid digestibility.
- Pepsidase (also known as serratia peptidase) - provides fibrinolytic, anti-edemic, and anti-inflammatory activity. This enzyme, which is found in the intestines of silk worms, has been used in Europe and Japan to open clogged arteries supplying blood to the brain. Clinical trials have found it particularly beneficial for relieving post-surgical swelling, sports trauma inflammation, fibrocystic breast disease, and upper respiratory tract conditions.
Second, Cleansing Enzymes contains the liver boosting natural ingredients of Artichoke Root and Sarsparilla Root (these are the ingredients of Liver Boost). These two ingredients have been shown to have a powerful rejuvenative effect on the Liver, even more powerful than milk thistle helping the liver to boost its functioning capacity in terms of producing the thousands of detoxifying chemicals needed to keep the whole body detoxified. Liver Strength is a key to toxin-free body and Cleansing Enzymes helps maintain liver strength.
Third, Cleansing Enzymes contains the digestive bitter called gentian root. This botanical stimulates both the production of stomach acid which helps break foods down and also destroys pathogens in the stomach. Gentian root also stimulates the production of bile which helps in the extraction of nutrients from foods as they pass through the small intestines.
Fourth, Cleansing Enzymes contains the antibacterial, anti-fungal botanical called myrrh. Myrrh is a tree resin from the Middle East that has had great value dating from ancient times in destroying pathogens in the stomach so that they do not create problems elsewhere in the body.
And fifth, Cleansing Enzymes contains a species of protective lactobacillus bacteria known as lactobacillus sporagenes. This type of protective bacteria is encased so that it survives the trip through the digestive system to implant in the small and large intestines.
